During the National Day holiday, all the public parks in Zhongshan were full of visitors. Zimaling Park in particular witnessed 235 thousand visitors. 

With the improvement in living standards, Zhongshan citizens have a greater demand on public space and green space. It is learned that Zhongshan will promote construction of sports parks in area groups. In specific, the Central Group’s sports park is expected to reach completion in the middle of next year. Southern Group’s sports park will start construction within this year. 

By late September, 5 area group’s sports parks have been going on in order. Especially, Eastern Group, Northwestern Group and Northeastern Group’s projects have developed well and expected to finish construction within this year.

Eastern Group’s sports park started renovation in July and will open to public at the end of the year. The sports park features “lotus pond landscape” and is a comprehensive community sports park incorporating ecological protection, science popularization, tourism and recreational activities. 

The sports park is upgraded from the Deneng Lake Sports Park, Deneng Lake Cultural Park and public fitness square in the Torch Development Zone. It includes seven characteristic zones including main entrance square zone, central lake zone, law education zone, children’s recreational zone, demonstration zone of sponge city, sports zone and administration services zone. Different zones will be connected with the slow traffic system around the lake. 

Phase-one of Northwestern Group’s sports park has opened to public since July. The main body of the dragon boat race stand in the phase-two project has been completed.

Northeastern Group’s sports park is in the bidding stage. The project bidding of the area A and B have been completed and publicized. The construction is about to begin.. 

Both Southern Group and Central Group’s sports parks’ are under construction preparatory stage.
