Cross-river channel may be built on the north section of Qiwan Avenue
Updated: 2017-10-19    Source: Zhongshan Daily Large Medium Small Print

During the municipal two sessions this year, members of the Zhongshan CPPCC Weng Jichuan, Feng Zongzhou and Chen Bingxi proposed advice on building cross-Qijiang river channel on Qiwan Avenue. Zhongshan Planning Bureau recently gave a reply, saying that in July this year, the bureau has completed the research basing on analysis of traffic situation and evaluation of experts and relevant departments. The bureau determined a recommended proposal.

According to the recommended proposal, the cross-river channel starts at the north section of Qiwan Avenue at 200m north to the intersection of Dongxiang Road and Qiwan Avenue, with a undercrossing tunnel constructed beneath Qiwansha Road, Shiqi River, Minke Road, Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity Transit and North Outer Ring, and ends at Huashi Road. The 2380m-long channel will be built with twin tubes for two-way six-lane traffic. Zhongshan Housing and Construction Bureau will make a request to the Zhongshan government to implement the construction plan under appropriate circumstances.
