Zhongshan Human Resources and Social Security Bureau has released a notice, seeking public opinion on adjusting the payment ratio of staff’s maternity insurance. According to the notice, the payment ratio of maternity insurance will be raised from 0.8% to 1% since January 1, 2018.
Since the introduction of “universal two-child policy”, the number of women capable of child-bearing sees rapid growth, and the parturition rate has increased from 0.87% to 2.0%. Affected by the policy, Zhongshan’s birth insurance fund expenditure has grown substantially. To ensure balance of the birth insurance payment and fertility workers’ interests, Zhongshan plans to adjust the payment proportion of maternity insurance.
Specifically, according to the stipulations on Guangdong staff’s maternity insurance, employers has to pay not more than 1% of the total wages of staffs of previous month as birth insurance premium. After calculation, Zhongshan plans to raise the payment proportion of staff’s maternity insurance from 0.8% to 1.0% (the margin will be paid by employers) from January 1, 2018.
