It was the 24th sanitation workers' festival in Guangdong Province on October 26. A day before, a commendation symposium was held for sanitation workers and gardeners in Zhongshan. 14 sanitation workers, with 25 years’ sanitation experience, were awarded honorary certificates and gold medals.

In the first three quarters of this year, three major Zhongshan-based garbage disposal bases incinerated and treated 717,800 tons of household waste in total, of which 203.600 tons were generated from central city. The sanitation workers made extraordinary achievements in their ordinary positions, maintaining a beautiful city environment with practical actions.

"Now sanitation workers are more and more respected by the citizens. Some often give a hand to the sanitation workers. It makes me feel very warm when some people handed me a bottle of water." Liu Xuehua who had worked in the sanitation post for more than 25 years said.

Since 2016, Zhongshan Housing and Urban-rural Development Bureau started to upgrade and reform more than 700 garbage houses and 70 public toilets in central city. Since this year, sanitation operation companies have devoted great investment efforts and added nearly 100 road cleaning and garbage removal vehicles to improve the cleaning work.
