Zhongshan has 93 centenarians

Reporters learned from the Zhongshan Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau that by the end of February this year, Zhongshan has about 25.67 thousand registered old people (aged above 60), which accounts for 15.94% of the city’s population. The aging growth reaches 3.63%. 

Judging from the structure of the elderly population, at present, the young old (aged below 70) group has the largest proportion of aging population in Zhongshan, with the feature of fast and young.

At present, Zhongshan has 93 centenarians, most of which live in Shiqi District, Xiaolan and Dachong town, more female than male. Among them,Chen Yuqing, born in July 1911 and registered in Xiaolan, is the oldest people in Zhongshan, aged 106.

There are 21 nursing agencies in the whole city, providing 4636 beds. Up to 1859 old people live in nursing agencies.

In recent years, Zhongshan city has made innovation in aged services. In addition to developing nursing institutions and exploring socialization of elderly support, Zhongshan also promote development of home nursing service centers in communities and improve service level for the aged with information means. The coverage of the aged services in Zhongshan has been increasing.
