Zhongshan Education and Sports Bureau released the "Zhongshan Kindergarten Setting Standards (Draft)." on November 14, seeking public opinions. According to the draft, kindergartens in Zhongshan will be divided into two types: small kindergarten with 3-5 classes and medium or above kindergarten with 6 classes or more. All small kindergartens need to be founded as public  interest kindergartens.

In addition, small kindergarten will cover no less than 900 square meters area, while medium or above kindergarten will cover no less than 1,800 square meters. Outdoor activity space in small kindergarten need to be no less than 270 square meters, will be no less than 540 square meters in medium or above kindergarten. Kindergartens should equipped with sand pit, padding pool, plant garden, 30-meter long straight runway and etc, green and beautified space for activity, and open area for children playing games.
