During the 2017 Chinese City Exhibition Industry Competitiveness Index Release Conference and the High-End Forum conducted by China Convention, Exhibition, Event Society recently, Zhongshan was awarded “China’s Most Competitive Exhibition City” title.

According to the statistics of commercial departments, in 2016 Zhongshan hosted 93 exhibitions, ranked third in Guangdong following Guangzhou and Shenzhen. The large number of exhibitions held is one of the main reasons Zhongshan won the “Most Competitive Exhibition City” title, says Fang Ping the Executive President of Pearl River Delta City Exhibition Union and Director of Zhongshan Exhibition and Convention Industry Association. But he also points out that since there are no large-scale exhibitions, Zhongshan is expected to improve its competitiveness in the era of “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area”.

At present there are four professional exhibition venues in Zhongshan, including Zhongshan Expo Center, Zhongshan Torch International Exhibition Center, Huangpu International Exhibition Center and Guzhen Convention and Exhibition Center. More than 70% (65) of the 93 exhibitions hosted in Zhongshan last year were held in Zhongshan Expo Center.
