Chinese General Secretary Xi Jinping recently made important instructions on the work and achievements of promotion of “toilet revolution project” of tourism industry . Xi Jinping pointed out that resolving toilet-related issue is an important part of urban and rural civilization. Efforts should be put in not only scenic areas, but also urban and rural areas, in order to promote rural revitalization strategy and improve people’s living quality. 

How is the “toilet revolution project” progressing in Zhongshan? It is learned from Zhongshan Tourism Bureau that starting from 2015, Zhongshan has built and rebuilt 238 tourist toilets. There have been also well-decorated 3A public toilets and “unisex toilets” appeared in Zhongshan. In 2015, Zhongshan was awarded the “advanced unit of toilet revolution” by state tourism department.  

In addition to tourism toilet, since 2016, Zhongshan Bureau of Housing and Urban-Rural Construction has also upgraded over 60 public toilets in central city.
