Removing illegal farms to protect ‘mother river’

A supervision group, led by Deputy Mayor Yuan Yongkang and formed by officials from municipal environmental protection bureau, housing and urban-rural development bureau, water affairs department, urban management department and public security bureau, inspected the progress of farming pollution treatment in Shaxi and Dachong town. Informed by departments, Yuan Yongkang underlined township governments and related departments must resolve the problem of “illegal farms and waste water polluting Qijiang River ‘the mother river of Zhongshan’” as early as possible and improve Qijiang River by the Spring Festival of 2018.

The supervision group inspected Fang’s Tomb Area in Fenghuang Mountain District in Shaxi Town that afternoon. It was learned that six illegal farms were identified within the area, and all of them had been removed. According to Lin Zinan, Member of Shaxi Township Party Committee of CPC, within in the whole Fenghuang Mountain District, there were 76 illegal farms identified, 48 of which had been removed so far.
