On December 21, a huge dredger was busy working on the sea to the south of Shenzhen Fuyong Wharf. It was the start of the construction of East Artificial Island of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel. It also signified the comprehensive construction of the “island-bridge” project of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel begun.

The East Artificial Island is expected to become the first undersea highway interchange in China after completion. In future, people can travel among Shenzhen, Zhongshan, Guangzhou and Hong Kong through the interchange.

Reportedly, the East Artificial Island is 930 meter long, with a land area of 335.1 thousand sqm, which is as large as 47 international standard football fields in total.
