“Free WiFi on 1000 buses” is one of the Zhongshan Top 10 Livelihood Projects this year. According to Zhongshan Public Transportation Group, from December 26 on, total 1,000 buses running on 62 bus routes will be equipped with free WiFi. Passengers can get free internet access by connecting cellphones to the WiFi hotspot “ZSbus-Free”.

The free WiFi service covers 8 BRT routes, 13 bus express routes and 41 busy regular bus routes. Staff from Zhongshan Public Transportation Group says the 62 routes carry up to 80% of the daily passengers in Zhongshan.

“It takes less than 10 seconds to connect to the free WiFi. Passengers can experience convenient free internet access.” Staff from Zhongshan Public Transportation Group adds that passengers on the free WiFi-covered buses can turned on the WLAN function of the cellphone, search hotspot “ZSbus-Free”, click the “connect” button, and use the free internet access when seeing the “connected successfully” notification.

To guarantee the best surfing experience, Zhongshan Public Transportation Group will put 90 thousand gigabyte data per month on the service. Each bus has 90 gigabyte free data per month, and can share the unused data with other buses.
