A strong cold air struck Zhongshan on the night of January 7, leading to dramatic temperature decline. At 10am on January 9, Zhongshan Meteorological Bureau recorded this year’s lowest temperature so far of 5.7℃ at Zimaling Station. On the same day, the temperature in different towns varied between 5℃ and 7℃. Zhongshan’s daily highest temperature was 8.7℃ on that day.
To assist the public cope with cold disaster, municipal civil affairs department took various actions. By the afternoon of January 9, total 141 emergency shelters opened service and received 4 people. Staffs of Zhongshan Salvation Management Center found 26 vagrants and brought 3 to the emergency shelters.
Municipal Civil Affairs Department reminded that bus and taxi drivers, sanitation workers, night security personnel and other citizens can report to 88201184 or 110 when finding vagrants and homeless people.
