Zhongshan's CPI increases 1.1% year-on-year last month

Zhongshan's consumer price index (CPI) was up 0.1% month-on-month, recording a year on year increase of 1.1% in December,2017, according to Zhongshan investigation team of National Bureau of Statistics.

Compared with the figures in previous month, Zhongshan’s food prices mainly rose in December. The price of eggs rose by 4.9% influenced by market supply and demand. Aquatic products price rose by 2.5% in general owing to the cold waves. Also affected by the weather, the overall price of fresh fruits rose by 1.2%. Low consumption demand led to falling pork price. The prices of fresh vegetables and pork fell 0.7% and 1.0% respectively.

In terms of energy sources, influenced by fuel price policy adjustment, the prices of gasoline and diesel rose by 1.9% and 2.1% respectively.

Travel agencies increased charge as the 2018 New Year's Day was approaching. The tourism price rose by 1.6%, while the price of other services remained stable.
