“The Implementation of the 2017 Zhongshan Economic and Social Development Plan and the 2018 Draft Plan Report” was examined by The 4th Session of The 15th Municipal People's Congress on January 17. The report mentioned that this year Zhongshan will promote economic and social development from six aspects including reform strengthening, innovative development, demand expansion, function layout optimization, “Beautiful Zhongshan” building and people’s livelihood improvement. 

Zhongshan sees steady economic growth in 2017. The annual gross regional production was estimated to reach 350bn yuan, while the per capital gross regional production would exceed 100 thousand yuan. The general public budget revenue increased 8.3% to 31.27bn yuan from 2016. The completed fixed-asset investment was estimated to reach 124.85bn yuan, with an 8.7% growth. Zhongshan totally completed 12.33bn yuan investment on 34 provincial key projects and 54.59bn yuan on 167 municipal key projects last year.
