The Electromobile Safety Specifications revised by the state Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other three departments has been seeking public opinions since mid January.

According to Zhou Shoutian, Director of Zhongshan Bicycle and Electromobile Association and Chairman of Guangdong South Eagle Electromobile Co Ltd, the new standard tightens the manufacturing requirements in terms of maximum speed, total weight, motor power, cell voltage, shape and size, and fireproofing and antiflaming devices of the electromobile.

Adapting to the new standard, more than 90% of the electromobile in Zhongshan market are unqualified products.

Zhongshan-based electromobile manufacturers and dealers in that case are facing a severe business test. However, there will be more than half a year of interim period before the official implementation of the new standard. Manufacturers have time to adjust their techniques in accordance with the new standard.
