By the end of 2017, there were about 350,800 market entities in Zhongshan involving registered capital of about 525.146 billion yuan, according to Zhongshan Administration for Industry and Commerce. The figures were up 7.29% and 27.85% respectively compared with the same period of a year before. The number of new registered market entities in 2017 was about 731 thousand, with year-on-year increase of 21.44%.

Henglan town has the fastest growing number of market entities. The town added 5,660 market main-bodies in 2017, making the total number increase 35.19% to 21.7 thousand and outpace East District ranking 5th in Zhongshan. Xiaolan town, Guzhen town, Torch Development Zone, Shiqi District and Henglan town are top five having the most market entities.
