The state Ministry of Public Security introduced eight entry-exit convenience-for-people measures on February 1. By March 6, according to Zhongshan Public Security Bureau, seven of the measures, including “Guangdong residents can apply for entry-exit permit in Zhongshan”, “self-service application for tourist visa to Hong Kong and Macao”, “qualified residents from other provinces can apply for entry-exit permit in Zhongshan”, “self-service inquiring of remaining tourist visa to Hong Kong and Macao”, “visa and residence convenience for foreign Chinese”, “self-service customs clearance” and “self-service printing service of entry-exit record”, are made implemented in Zhongshan by local entry-exit authority and immigration department.

The city had started pilot programs in passport application early. From February of 2013, seven towns and districts including East District, Torch Zone, Xiaolan, Guzhen, Tanzhou, Sanxiang and Shaxi launched passport application service on a trial basis. Up to now, the service is available in all 24 towns and districts in Zhongshan.
