Fresh vegetables price increases more than 15% in Q1

In the first quarter of 2018, Zhongshan's consumer price index (CPI) was up 1.6%, 0.5 percentage points lower than the national average (up 2.1%) and 0.6 percentage points lower than provincial average (up 2.2%), according to Zhongshan investigation team of National Bureau of Statistics. The increase ranked 8th among the nine cities in the Pearl River Delta, only higher than Jiangmen’s. 

Price for food, tobacco and wine rose 3.0%, while price for non-food, tobacco and wine products rose 0.9%. Consumer goods price increased 1.8%, while services price was up 1.1%.

Fresh vegetables price increased by 15.9%, which was the main factor leading to the growth in the price for food, tobacco and wine and contributed a 0.4% increase of the overall CPI.
