The draft “Zhongshan Tourism Traffic Planning” has passed expert review and is currently being publicized, according to Zhongshan Transportation Bureau. 

Reportedly, Zhongshan will further develop tourism traffic complying with two strategies.

The first one is “rapid speed” strategy, which requires to improve the external transportation system of the city relying on regional traffic development, and to construct a rapid transit system connecting major tourist attractions relying on internal traffic network. Zhongshan hopes to build a "one-hour living circle" with Guagnzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Zhuhai, Jiangmen and other surrounding cities through external channels such as highways, trunk roads, national railways, inter-city rails, and etc. In future, Zhongshan citizens can reach Nansha New District of Guangzhou, Qianhai District of Shenzhen or Hengqin District of Zhuhai in 50 minutes by driving.

Secondly, “slow voyage” strategy. It requires to improve tourism signs and guiding facilities in order to highlight the special characteristics of slow traveling, to improve the visibility of scenic spots, and to build greenway system which connects Zhongshan's cultural and natural landscapes in order to provide tourists with a convenient and accessible approach of slow traveling and tourism experience.
