The first day of each month from this month on is designated as Guangdong’s “Civilization and Comity Day”. On May 1, the first “Civilization and Comity Day”, Zhongshan traffic police conducted control action against “cars not yielding to pedestrians” behavior at six intersections in central city. 

Reportedly, on the morning of that day, nearly 600 motor vehicle drivers were verbally educated by the police for not giving way to pedestrians.

As of 5pm the same day, 210 cars were also captured by "Electronic Police" for not yielding to pedestrians. The drivers involved were fined 200 yuan and 3 points respectively.
