Zhongshan to regulate 10 rivers in central city

The water regulation project for 10 rivers in central city will be started from July, according to Zhongshan Housing and Urban-rural Development Bureau.

Relevant official of the bureau said that the project aims to improve water quality of ten rivers including Baisshawan Industry Open Canal, Yangjiao River, Lianxing River, Dajiao River, Heng River, Yuanfeng New River, Qingjing Road North Side River, Chenggouwan River, Maheng River and Dutou River.

A series of measures such as pollution interception, storage regulation, dredging, pipeline inspection and restoration, water quality improvement, bank protection, and ecological restoration will be implemented in addition to the renovating measures previously taken. Additional storage ponds will be built by each of the ten rivers to counter sewage overflow in rainy season.
