Statistics of the city’s environmental monitoring stations show that Zhongshan once again broke into the top 10 (ranked 3rd) nationwide in air quality in May after ranking 6th in April, according to Zhongshan Environmental Protection Bureau.
From January 1 to May 31 this year, among the 151 effective monitoring days of air quality in Zhongshan City, 62 days were rated “excellent” and 75 were “good”. The control rate reached 90.7%, up by 7.3% from a year earlier. Zhongshan’s comprehensive index of atmospheric environment dropped 11.8% to 3.89 from the same period of last year, which meant the air quality of the city showed the biggest improvement among Guangdong cities.
Reportedly, Zhongshan had been ranked in top 10 nationwide in air quality for three times last year.
