In order to promote compulsive sorting for household waste this year, each town or district is required to build garbage sorting facilities and transport vehicles as well as at least one harmful waste storage warehouse and a temporary warehouse for recyclable materials.

Huang Lin, official of Zhongshan Environmental Sanitation Office, said the “compulsive waste sorting” promotion has been included in the governments’ annual performance appraisal. Zhongshan Housing and Urban-rural Development Bureau will carry out spot check on district management committees, township governments and district offices in terms of organization and guarantee, publicity and education, collection and transportation, facilities and equipment establishment of compulsive waste sorting.
