On June 4, at Zhongshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a robot labeled “Orthopedics Department hwzn-0087” was “talking” to a medical staff. The robot, named “Wei”, was only 1.2m tall but looks lovely.

At present, according to Gao Dawei, Deputy Dean of Zhongshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, only a few of hospitals across the country, including Zhongshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, have initially introduced robot for healthcaring and medical use.

He added that Zhongshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine last year had signed strategic cooperation agreement with Zhongshan-based company with mature technologies in healthcare robot development after a series of negotiation. The hospital started utilization of healthcare robot this year.

The “shorter doctor”, with voice recognition, autonomous cruise, self-service health check-up, 24-hour vital signs monitoring and other functions, is capable of providing services including rehabilitation guidance, remote treatment, medical encyclopedia, hospitalization education, pre-diagnosis, and so on.

Gan Ning, General Manager of Zhongshan Hanwei Technology Co Ltd, says their company is mainly engaged with research and development of numerical control and intelligent manufacturing equipment previously, and entered the healthcare robot manufacturing industry two years ago. At present, Hanwei Technology has developed into a high-tech company specialized in artificial intelligence technology services of health industry, which provides robots and applications and resolutions in terms of medical, nursing and healthcaring fields.
