Zhongshan would carry out a one-month special action to crack down “dumping wastes into the sea” behaviors from June 19 to July 18.
The first marine operation was conducted on the morning of June 19 at Hengmen Fishing Port by joint enforcement team formed by 42 officers from marine surveillance, maritime safety administration, border defence force, and etc.
The special action aims to crack down illegal acts including dumping solid industrial and household refuse to the sea areas of Zhongshan, according to Lu Lihao, Deputy Division Marshal of Marine Surveillance of Zhongshan Ocean and Fisheries Bureau. “Someone who is verified illegal act will be fined 200,000 yuan at most. If his/her behavior is verified a crime, he/she will be transferred to public security organs and prosecuted for criminal offense.”
