On June 16, the first day of the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, Weifeng Farm, located in Xinlun Village in Minzhong town, encountered the tourists peak. “I need to pick up a Hong Kong tour group first. They just arrive.” Said Zhou Baoying, vice general manager of Weifeng Farm.

“The air and the environment are good. Tourists can also taste the fresh vegetables grown here for free.” Fu-wing Lee, manager of Pak Yin Holiday Travel Co Ltd, said the rural tour package was popular and more tour groups from Hong Kong would came to the farm this year.

Lee believed there are good prospects for rural tourism, in particular, under the development of the “Greater Bay Area”, tourists from Hong Kong and Macao will be more interested in country tour in Pearl River Delta especially in Zhongshan.

Since last year, said Zhou Baoying, an increasing number of tourist groups from Hong Kong and Macao came to Zhongshan.

In that case, Weifeng Farm has developed a new vegetable production-marketing model. “We have our own restaurant, and a ‘Fruit and Vegetable Street’. We are even in short supply of vegetable now.” Lin Shaoqun, one of the employed farmer of Weifeng Farm, said proudly. As a resident of Xinlun Village, Lin Shaoqun has higher income and expanded horizons comparing with the past.

Lin is not the only farmer who works for Weifeng Farm. Zhou Baoying said up to 100 farmers get long-term jobs in Weifeng Farm so far.
