Department of Environmental Protection of Guangdong Province (GDEP) recently released the half-year surface-water environmental quality report. Zhongshan ranks 9th province-wide among 21 cities.

According to the data published by GDEP, the control rates of 78 municipal-level centralized sources of drinking water in use and 84 county-level sources both reached 100% from January to June of the year. Heyuan, Zhaoqing and Yunfu were the top three cities in the surface water comprehensive index ranking for the first half, while Shenzhen, Dongguan and Jieyang were the bottom three.
