The 15th Games of Guangdong Province kicked off at Zhaoqing city on August 8. 

Up to 18,955 athletes, team leaders and coaches will participate in competitive sports group and school sports group of The Guangdong Games this year.

As of the opening day, 21 major sport events had concluded, with 280 gold medals were decided. Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Zhaoqing, Dongguan and Zhongshan delegations were temporarily the top 6 in total score.

Men’s competitive sports group basketball event kicked off a day before the opening day. Zhongshan team beat the host Zhaoqing team 75-48 in the opening game.
