According to the "Guangdong Green Development Evaluation Research Report" released recently, Zhongshan ranks 3rd province-wide in Green Development Index.

Huizhou, Shenzhen, Zhongshan, Dongguan and Guangzhou, whose scores were between 749 to 827 points, were among the top 5 in the green development index on the basis of characteristic of regional development stage. Zhanjiang, Zhuhai, Shanwei, Foshan and Shantou rank 6th to 10th.

Reportedly, this year will be the critical stage of Zhongshan’s establishment of national forest city. Comparing with 2016, Zhongshan's forest coverage rate has increased from 35.20% to 35.48%, the urban green coverage rate has increased from 40.12% to 43.14%, and the urban per capital park green area has increased from 17.05sqm to 18.62sqm.
