The pile foundation project of the main piers of both Lingding Ocean Bridge and Zhongshan Bridge began at the same time days before, signifying the official start of the bridge construction of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel.

The quality of the pile foundation project decides the durability, safety and service life of the bridge. Different from common bridges, the cast-in-situ bored pile used in water section of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel (Bridge) is 3 meters in diameter, which is of bigger carrying capacity and rigidity.

“The bridge construction is the key point, highlight, focus and challenge of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel. And the Lingding Ocean Bridge is the key path.” Said Pan Fang, Vice Director of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel Administration Center. Lingding Ocean Bridge is located above the open waters of Lingding Ocean, where typhoons come frequently. Its main span extends up to 1,666 meters. As an offshore suspension bridge with the largest span in the world, Lingding Ocean Bridge has a 270-meter tall main tower. Its navigable net height reaches 76.5 meter, and bridge floor is 91 meters above the water. It will become the tallest offshore bridge after completion.
