Super Typhoon Mangkhut slammed Southern Guangdong on September 16. After the typhoon raked the city, Zhongshan volunteers quickly participate in disaster rescue and production recovery work.
On the morning of September 17, in Gangkou Town, Zhou Qisheng and his brother Zhou Qichang assisted the massive clean-up carried out by volunteers with their own truck.
Zhou’s brothers both come from Guangxi province and at present engage in transportation.
More than 30 volunteers participated in the road-cleaning job on September 17 besides 4 warmhearted drivers including Zhou’s brothers, said Luo Kedi, principal of Gangkou Voluntary Association. They had cleared up over 6 tons of fallen trees and debris.
Statistics provided by Zhongshan Volunteers Federation showed that as of 6pm on September 17, up to 6,030 volunteers took active part in over 320 massive clean-up voluntary activities across the city.
