The world-renowned Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) officially opened to traffic on October 23. At Zhuhai Highway Port of Entry, travelers were getting on and off the mega bridge by escalators. 

All 102 escalators and automatic pedestrian walkways installed inside of HZMB were in normal operation on the opening day, which made Liang Wanjiang, general manager of elevator maker ThyssenKrupp Zhongshan Branch, excited. “These escalators are intelligent products made in Zhongshan,” Mr Liang said proudly.

The escalators and automatic pedestrian walkways were placed in the most crowded areas of the port of entry such as traffic center, corridors, traveler inspection zones and administrative area.

Liang Wanjiang said that there will be increasing number of travelers coming to the port in the future, which brings challenges to the operation of these escalators. “But we firmly believe that ‘Zhongshan Intelligence’ is not afraid of any challenges, and it will be the most long-term partner of the mega bridge.”
