Two poverty-relief donation activities were carried out recently in Suijiang County of Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province. Zhongshan Ailan Foundation and Macao Zhongshan Charity Volunteers Association respectively donated 319,500 thousand yuan and 173,000 yuan plus 30,000 yuan worth supplies to support local poverty-relief work.

Reportedly, torrential rains attacked Suijiang County in June this year, bringing disasters to 11,566 locals in 12 villages in 3 towns and leading to a 13.1791 million yuan economic loss. On the afternoon of November 8, Zhongshan Ailan Foundation donated 319,500 thousand yuan to the county government and issued to 185 affected families and poor people.

Zhongshan Ailan Foundation was founded by Lucas Yuan, Taiwanese entrepreneur and chairman of Shanghai Superb Group, and his wife Hu Ailan in 2007. For more than a decade, Ailan Foundation had donated over 10 million yuan to fund students in needy families, poor elderly persons of no family, the disabled with living difficulties and disaster victims.

Earlier on November 5, member of Zhongshan Committee of CPPCC and director of Macao Zhongshan Charity Volunteers Association Au Suk-yee and her crew visited Suijiang Country and donated 173,000 yuan to Huzhu Primary School for dormitory building renovation. The volunteers also spent 30,000 yuan on purchasing the students a batch of school uniforms, school bags and study supplies.
