“China Urban Innovation Competitiveness Development Report 2018” was released days before in Beijing.

The report analyzes and evaluates cities’ competitive power in terms of innovative foundation, innovative environment, investment on innovation, innovation output and sustainable development of innovation.

Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen were the top 3 cities with the most innovation competitiveness. Zhongshan takes the 31st place in the nationwide ranking.

According to the report, in general, cities of more innovation competitiveness mainly distribute in eastern China, where 68% of top 50 cities are located in. Cities of less innovation competitiveness are mainly situated in central and western China.
