Ms Chen, a 63-year-old retired who lives in Xianhu Community in Shiqi District, Zhongshan, has recently become a “phubber”. But what obsesses her is not a game or a video website, but a smartphone application called “Love Ring”. By clicking different buttons on the software, elderly persons are able to access to home-based care services (such as medicine delivery, necessities delivery and medical examination) or emergency rescue.

Reportedly, “Charity Love Ring” is part of the city’s home-based care service program “Cares for the Aged Express”, through which elderly persons can call for emergency help and home-based care services. “Love Ring” application is a an update on smartphone of the services. It was launched in 2016 and has provided the aged with a carry-on tool for help.

Recently, the functions are added to Wechat, one of the most widely used social messaging apps in China.

Beta version of “Love Ring in Wechat” was released on November 15. Users can enjoy all the functions “Love Ring” app has without downloading. The number of users of “Love Ring in Wechat” climbs every day.
