With trans-provincial facial recognition technology, Zhongshan Rescue Station on December 9 finally helped Ms Zhang from Guangzhou find her deaf-mute father who had got lost for 11 years.

Dating back to September 3, 2018, an old man, about 65, was found at Dashidou Village of Shaxi Town, Zhongshan and sent to Zhongshan Rescue Station. However, the old man was deaf-mute disabled and wasn’t able to provide personal information. Staffs of Zhongshan Rescue Station in that case turned to newspaper for seeking clues.

“We also posted his information online, as well as collected DNA for comparison. But there came to nothing.” He Xihua the director of Zhongshan Rescue Station said.

The going got better on December 9 this year. With trans-provincial facial recognition technology, Zhongshan Rescue Station got in touch with the old man’s daughter Ms Zhang, who rushed to Zhongshan from Guangzhou to reunite with her long-lost father as soon as she learned of his whereabouts.

The old man - Mr ZHang - is the fifth person in Zhongshan who finds his/her family through trans-provincial facial recognition technology this year.

Reportedly, Zhongshan Rescue Station had saved 46 homeless persons since the beginning of December.
