On the afternoon of December 24, the government held a press briefing to publicize efficiency and measures concerning the crackdown on organized crimes this year. A batch of representatives of citizens, who were active in providing clues and information, were awarded. In the meantime, public security authorities displayed certain confiscated collections, including crime-related vehicles, guns and knives.

As of December 15, more than 200 gangs were busted by public security authorities, including several mafia-like criminal organizations and criminal gangs; 193 counts of illegal and criminal cases were investigated and filed against in the procuratorate with 738 suspects under charge. 16 mafia-like crimes were proceeded and handed the sentences by the court, which brought 52 criminals to justice; as for issues related to corrupt officials and “protective umbrellas” served as accomplice with the gangs, 30 people were held accountable in 41 cases filed by the Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection; in the meantime, a batch of funds and assets under the crime organizations were confiscated, seized and frozen in accordance with laws. The high-pressure stance is formed to crack down and deal a blow to the illegal crimes, so as to effectively deter the mafia-like gangs from committing crimes.
