The information obtained by the reporter from the Municipal Industrial and Commercial Bureau showed that as of October 31, it had cleared 8,449 “zombie accounts”.

Its statistics indicated that as of October 31, it had revoked 4,441 accounts from “zombie enterprises” and 4,018 “deceased self-employed enterprises” accounts while awakened 43 “dormant enterprises”. Among them, 4,198 “zombie accounts” were revoked in batches, an increase of 3.6% of reward rate from enterprises within the city, which was as high as 93.68% in the first half of the year; in the second half of the year, 4,251 accounts were revoked.
As the year goes on, the Municipal Industrial and Commercial Bureau has faithfully implemented the work arrangements made by State Administration of Market Regulation and the Administration for Industry and Commerce of Guangdong Province. It has formulated the Guiding Opinions of the Zhongshan Administration for Industry and Commerce on Clearing Long-Term Shut and Non-Operational Market Entities, and improved the working system for the clearance of “zombie” business entities. It has strengthened efforts in well resolving long-term non-operational enterprises. For business entities without delivering annual report within two years, out of contact through registered addresses or failing taxation declaration or social security insurance payment in over six months, they will be revoked in batches.
