Leaders of the Zhongshan Municipal Red Cross Society, including Executive Vice Director Jian Haiyan, Vice Director and Secretary-general Li Qiyan, and others, were invited to the radio program "Friday On Air" to interact with callers on Jan 4.

Jian Haiyan stated that the 2019 Zhongshan Charity Parade will be held on the morning of Feb 19 at Xingzhong Avenue in the central city. The cultural folk art activities are scheduled to be performed from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., while the starting ceremony and parade will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the same day.

The Executive Vice Director added that the city will build a Zhongshan Municipal Red Cross Life, Health and Safety Experience Museum. The museum will feature the publicity of humanitarianism, history of the Red Cross Society, life, health and safety experience, and more. With virtual facilities, the masses will be able to experience the danger of natural disasters while improving both the awareness of emergency and disaster-prevention along with the skills of self and mutual aid. The museum will utilize situational teaching, role plays, interactive experiences, practical training and parent-child lectures to teach these skills.

During the radio broadcast, Li Qiyan responded to citizens’ concern regarding assistance to impoverished families. He announced that last year the Municipal and Township Red Cross Society had raised a total of 30 million yuan and made donations to almost 15,000 people from those families.
