The Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) released the national air quality reports for December and January-December of 2018 on Monday.

According to the reports, in 2018, the average proportion of days with good air quality of 338 prefecture-level and above cities reached 79.3%.

Statistics show that last year's Zhongshan air quality was rated "excellent" for 155 days and "good" for 157 days. The overall standard rate was 85.5%, up 7.4% compared with the rate for 2017.

Since July 2018, MEE has increased the number of cities in the air quality ranking to 169 from previous 74, and announced the top 20 ranking every month. According to the latest reports, in December 2018, Zhongshan's air quality ranked 19th in the country.

For the whole year of 2018, Zhongshan's air quality ranked 13th nationwide.
