Yang Hongjie, who lives in Sanjiao Town, Zhongshan City, stepped on the Zhongshan No. 980 bus at 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Forty minutes later, he arrived at Jiaomen Station at Guangzhou Metro as scheduled.

For people like Yang who travel between Guangzhou and Zhongshan every day, the newly-opened Zhongshan-Guangzhou bus line has changed their commuting patterns.

Operated by the Zhongshan Public Transportation Group, this first Zhongshan-Guangzhou inter-city bus line officially opened on December 28, 2018. It has "turned on" the "between-two-cities life and work" mode for people from both locales.

As of January 8, 2019, the Zhongshan No. 980 bus line has already transported over 10,000 passengers, according to the latest statistics.

A Zhongshan Public Transportation Group official representative indicated that, in the next stage, the company will increase the quantity and frequency of buses as well as extend the service time in an effort to satisfy the travel needs of more citizens.
