The Zhongshan Railway Station witnessed its largest ever passenger flow on January 21, which coincided with the first day of the Spring Festival travel rush. The railway station was better able to manage the swell in passenger numbers by increasing the number of trains put into service. This past Monday, a total of 7,500 passengers departed from the station, while another 6,000 arrived, making for a total passenger flow volume of over 13,000.

A station representative said that compared to last year, the Zhongshan Railway Station had added 20 more trains during this year's Spring Festival travel rush. The increase included 5 long-distance trains and 15 urban rail trains.

Peak passenger flow is expected to occur a week before the Spring Festival holiday, he added. When the peak occurs, the daily passenger flow volume has been predicted to top 14,000.
