Four fully-loaded, 19-seat buses set out from the Guosheng Passenger Station in West District, Zhongshan on Monday morning and were on their way to Hong Kong.

Approved by the Department of Transport of Guangdong Province, this supporting service of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge shuttle bus was rolled out on that day. Its opening marks the moment that passengers in Zhongshan are now able to access many locations in Hong Kong with just one bus ticket. This service eliminates the need for repeated queuing, ticket purchasing, and transferring at different ports of entry.

A ticket costs 130 yuan and the trip takes about 2.5 to 3 hours travel time from Zhongshan. A ticket for the return trip, priced at HKD 140, is available at 8 designated agencies in Hong Kong.

In addition to Zhongshan bus service, a supporting shuttle bus service will be opened in the Pearl River Delta cities of Foshan, Guangzhou, Jiangmen, and Yangjiang within the year.
