The opening ceremony of the Zhongshan Jishuitan Orthopedic Hospital was held this past Monday morning.

"The newly-opened hospital provides the same clinical orthopedic services, such as spinal and traumatic fracture surgeries, to patients as the Beijing headquarters offers," said Tian Wei, Director of the hospital. Routine treatment will be undertaken by an expert team that was sent from the Beijing Jishuitan Hospital.

"Zhongshan Jishuitan Orthopedic Hospital, complying with a tertiary hospital charging standard, will be focused on more difficult and serious diseases while provide high-grade medical treatment. A hospitalization service will be available after the Spring Festival. Patients will soon have the option to pay with their medical insurance within the next two or three months," said Wu Zhongqing, Deputy Director of Zhongshan Health Bureau and the hospital's Chairman of Board of Directors.

Zhongshan Jishuitan Orthopedic Hospital is a non-profit, public hospital co-founded by the Zhongshan Municipal Government and the Beijing Jishuitan Hospital. It is located in the Maling Community of South District in Zhongshan. It covers an area of 127 mu (about 84,667 square meters). The hospital is furnished with 500 beds and will be constructed in two stages.

A total of 114 patients were received by the hospital on its opening day. Registration will be free of charge until February 2.
