A delegation led by a deputy of the Municipal People's Congress from the press circle visited Dongfeng People's Hospital recently for a progress update of the city's "Medical services optimization" project. 

The delegation successively paid a visit to the outpatient hall, ICU and TCM rehabilitation department of the hospital and was impressed by the brand-new, clean, tidy hospital building and environment. "We hope to make patients feel like at 5-star hotel when they come here for medical services," said Cao Xiaozhe, director of Dongfeng People's Hospital.

"Medical services optimization" was one of the "2018 Zhongshan Top 10 Livelihood Projects". It required 70% of the township public hospitals to meet secondary level standard or above, and the per capita expenditure on basic public health services should be raised to an average of 60 yuan.

It is reported that, so far, 16 township public hospitals in Zhongshan had reached secondary level standard, accounting for 72.72% of the total.

The per capita expenditure on basic public health services was raised from 53.67 to 63.71 yuan/year. The number of public health service items rose to 14 last year. Disabled persons, special planning families, people with severe mental disorders have been covered by family doctor service.

As of Dec 25, 2018, a total of 16,693 disabled persons, 977 special planning families, and 8,944 people with severe mental disorders had signed up for family doctor service.

At present, Zhongshan People's Hospital has accelerated the preliminary work for its new hospital area. Meanwhile, the maternity building of Zhongshan Bo'ai Hospital is under internal decoration and equipment installation.
