The number of registered vehicles in Zhongshan has grown to 1,421,923, as of February 21, 2019. This was according to the data released recently by the city's traffic police department.

"In recent years, Zhongshan has witnessed a substantial increase in car registration volume. The daily average growth of registered vehicles has reached 800," said Fang Yuzan, Director of the Vehicle Management Center of the Municipal Traffic Police Department.

In late July of 2018, a technical team from the Ministry of Public Security visited Zhongshan for the pilot construction of the internet-based Traffic Safety Service Platform. They were also there to upgrade the "Traffic Control 12123" app. These two intelligent platforms were completed and are now ready for public use. With their smartphones, users can now complete a variety of service functions, such as license number selection, driver's license replacement, traffic violation payment, and more.
