A special consultation service center window was opened at the Huayuan Community in East District after the Spring Festival. The dedicated staff now provide guidance and information for elevator installations in older buildings to service community residents.
During this year's municipal "Two Sessions" event, "Promotion of Elevator Installations in Older Communities" was included in the city's annual Top 10 Livelihood Projects. East District-based communities, like the Huayuan Community, which had previously rolled out similar plans, are moving fast to stimulate residents' participation in new elevator installations and the improvement of their dwelling conditions.
This year, Zhongshan plans to install over 150 elevators in older communities across the city. The government also plans to provide subsidies of 100,000 yuan for each set of elevators installed. Low-income and poor families are eligible for a full refund of all purchase expenses and equipment installation fees.
"By the end of February, there had been over 80 applications for elevator installations," said a staff representative of the Zhongshan Housing and Urban-rural Development Bureau. The Zhongshan Public Service Center also set up a special window for providing guidance and other helpful services. Presently, the time needed for approval of the installation procedure has been cut by 30%.
