The renovation of the southern section of National Highway G105, connecting Shalang district and Guhe area, will start within the year, according to the annual government work report.

The preliminary work of the project is coming to an end. "The construction drawing design is being examined by the provincial transportation bureau. The construction might start within this year," said an official from Zhongshan Highway Management Bureau.

The southern section of G105 is 32 kilometers in length, penetrating West District, Shaxi Town, Banfu Town and Sanxiang Town. The construction drawing design shows that a total of 10 overpass bridges, 9 underground pedestrian passageways, 1 underground tunnel will be built on it. It will be widen to a 2-way 8-lane highway, also equipped with slow traffic system, drainage system and supporting traffic facilities.

At present, the traffic flow of G105 southern section is 60,000 vehicles per day, which has almost reached saturation. The construction drawing design shows that it can handle 102,000 vehicles per days after renovation.
