The launching ceremony for the "Study on the Construction of the Chinese Children and Adolescents Physical Fitness Big Data Platform (Zhongshan Base)", a major project of the National Social Science Fund, was held on March 15 at the Zhongshan No.1 Middle School. Professor Wang Xiaozan from East China Normal University shared his research results with local PE teachers and school principals. He also introduced the KDL Sports and Health Course designed by his team.

According to Wang, his team has spent 5 years on developing the KDL Sports and Health Course. It advocates, "Know it", learning and mastering sports and health knowledge and skills; "Do it", using structured knowledge and skills to solve complex problems; and "Love it", developing sports hobbies and habits that will provide lifelong benefits.

"The previous PE course is focused only on teaching a single technique, which artificially separates the knowledge and the skills. The KDL course, on the contrary, takes students' interests as the starting point and pays attention to resolving problems in practical sports situations with structured knowledge and skills," said Wang.

At present, more than 150 primary and secondary schools and kindergartens across the country have participated in the project. After its launch in Zhongshan, some selected pilot schools will apply the KDL course.
