The Zhongshan South District Local Chronicles Museum, opened on April 3, showcased live cultural relics, photos and articles that depict history and culture, commercial culture, cultural loyalty and filial piety, and more from the South District, a hometown of overseas Chinese.
The museum stands next to the Public Welfare Park on Chengnan Road No.3, with a building area of 2,024 square meters. The 3-story pavilion contains 14 exhibition spots.
Presently, the first two floors of the Zhongshan South District Local Chronicles Museum are opened to the public. The Regional Information Hall on the first floor showcases the South District's economic development, urban construction, people's livelihood, culture, ecology, and more. The Liangdu Celebrity Hall as well as the Overseas Chineses, Hong Kong and Macao Compatriot Culture Hall are situated on the second floor.
According to Guo Yuan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Administrative Office of the South District, South District will build a district-village two-level public culture service system as well as a historical village museum, to boost its cultural influence.
